BraveMind - VR Application for PTSD Therapy

BRAVEMIND is a cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) exposure therapy system developed by the USC Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) to help individuals suffering from PTSD confront and process trauma in a controlled environment.

Leveraging immersive VR scenarios, BRAVEMIND has been clinically validated to produce significant symptom reduction in patients across VA, DoD, and university-based clinical sites. As part of the development team, I contributed to the Military Sexual Trauma (MST) module, expanding BRAVEMIND's capabilities to support survivors of non-combat PTSD. My work focused on:

  • Developing immersive VR environments that provide a safe space for guided exposure therapy.
  • Optimizing user interactions and clinician controls to ensure seamless stimulus presentation via the therapist's "Wizard of Oz" interface.
  • Collaborating with researchers to enhance realism & to align the VR experience with best practices in trauma therapy.
